O utdoor thermometers help you monitor the weather to determine the trend and plan the day. On the other hand, indoor models enable you to monitor the ambiance, so you will know whether you need to turn down the heat. But what if you could get a device that monitors the indoor and outdoor temp so you can check both simultaneously? Luckily, the market has a generous offer of heat meters for the interior and exterior, some enhanced with other details like humidity or time and date.
Based on sensors that collect weather data, these compact yet smart devices let you monitor and control the environment inside your house. We selected the most reliable ones, so you will be able to pick from the ones that are worth taking into account. Check them out in the following and choose the best fit for your demands and budget. Before we rank and review our selected products, let’s briefly talk about the indoor temperature you should strive to maintain.
Deciding at what temperature you should set the thermostat can be a big headache, especially if you don’t live alone. Aside from the fact that you have to factor in how everyone prefers the temperature, there are cost considerations. Let’s face it, keeping the house warm in winter and cooler during summer isn’t cheap. However, no matter what costs are involved, you must ensure that the temperature is within healthy parameters for your body, or there will be consequences.
When your crib is cold, your whole body starts trembling, and you are one step closer to catching a nasty cold. A study regarding the relation between indoor temperature and health shows that high temperatures aren’t any better either, with “respiratory health, diabetes management and core schizophrenia and dementia symptoms” being affected in the process.
The question inevitably arises – what temperature should you try to maintain indoors? Use your trusty thermometer and, depending on the season, put the AC or heater to good use and try to aim for a temperature from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius or 64 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, as suggested by the World Health Organization. As long as the thermometer displays stats within the range mentioned above, you can rest assured that your comfort and health aren’t at stake since there is thermal balance indoors.

ThermoPro TP67A
Alternatively, if you want a more straightforward device but don’t want to give up on the ThermoPro quality guarantee, you can opt for the ThermoPro TP65 model instead. It serves as a temperature and humidity monitor and nothing more, and the wireless transmission range of this model is 200 feet. We previously ranked the TP65 3rd in our top, but once we tested the TP67A and saw how much greater this model’s potential is, we decided to upgrade our top with it since it’s the best money can buy.
It features 6 sensitive vents to ensure accuracy throughout, a design trait not found in other products in its price range. Furthermore, the update frequency it flaunts is 50 seconds, so you can count on it to provide reliable and accurate data each time you use it. Just make sure you keep the two components within a 330-ft. range. If you need a device that can handle a larger distance between the transmitter and receiver, we recommend the ThermoPro TP200B since it withstands a peak 500 feet wireless transmission distance. You can learn more about this product later in this review when we compare it to the TP67A and a few other ThermoPro products worth looking into.
Based on the barometric pressure, it will forecast the conditions 24 hours in advance. The radius is up to 30 miles, and you can view the conditions in different icons like cloudy, sunny, rainy, and snow. This means you will always be ready for whatever the weather has prepared for you.
The sensor is completely sealed, so you can place it outdoors without being affected by rain, snow, or sun. As it is weather-proof, it will withstand temperatures as low as -31°F, so it can be left outdoors in below-freezing temperatures or snow. Its design particularities are:
Customer care and service are very generous and have your back for 1 year. If you register the item, you will extend that period to 3 years.
We mentioned a few details about alternative indoor/outdoor use thermometers from ThermoPro. Now, we want to compare these other worthy models from the same brand to the TP67A model we picked as the market’s best. If you find that the specs of another of these ThermoPro models suit your needs better, opt for it instead. The same quality guarantee applies, and it’s made by a brand that has already built a reputation for reliability and performance, so you can’t go wrong no matter what you pick.

This ThermoPro product really impressed us during testing, not only through its accuracy but because of its complex performance. The weather forecast predictions that it showed were mostly accurate, which was a pleasant surprise. The readings it provided matched those of three other thermometers indoors and outdoors. It also matched the humidity readout of two other hygrometers we used to see if readings would line up. It took a little over an hour to get the battery fully charged once we got it out of the box. It’s pretty straightforward to use, and syncing it with the outdoor sensor wasn’t hard work. The only thing I noticed and wasn’t a big fan of is the display contrast because it makes it a bit tough to read the stats in poor lighting or from afar.
Packing some of the features you find in advanced weather stations, this thermometer can change how you monitor the weather and plan according to it. A complete analysis of various parameters will offer a comprehensive perspective on the forecast while also helping you maintain a comfortable living ambiance indoors.
Wittime WT-2079
It’s a complex model that is more than helpful in creating a comfortable living environment for you, as it includes several other features aside from the temp monitoring:
It can be used in extreme weather, from – 40°F to 158°F, so don’t be afraid to leave it outside regardless of the season. The component inside the house can be either mounted on the wall or placed on the table.
Designed with precision in mind to help you stay in touch with the weather changes, this device is a reliable help daily and throughout the year. It’s small, has a long range to receive signals from a distance, and is intuitive. All the essential information can be easily discovered on the wide screen.
AcuRite 02049
Temps are shown in Celsius and Fahrenheit with the 02049 model, with trend arrows that indicate whether they are rising or dropping. Thanks to the memory function, the highest and lowest levels are recorded for the past 12, 24, 36, or 48 hours, or all-time. Both units are mountable, and the internal one is also standalone, so you can keep it in any area of the house, on a table or nightstand, as long as it receives a signal from the sensor. You can check the intensity of the signal by looking at the pictogram in the top corner of the screen.
Before we head on to list the pros and cons of the AcuRite 02049 and draw the inevitable conclusion of this review, we want to present you with another worthwhile thermometer from the same brand, namely the AcuRite 00782A2. We briefly discussed that updating temperature readings takes double as long compared to our pick. However, it’s accurate and reliable and might pose a better option depending on your budget. Here is a matrix where the two products are side by side. So make your choice depending on which suits you better.

It provides accurate readings on indoor and outdoor temperatures, so you will never be surprised by weather changes. Moreover, it stores readings for the past few days so you can check the trend and determine how the weather is going. The slim design of both components makes them easily mountable anywhere around the house.
Inkbird ITH-20R
What we liked most during testing was the dual nature of the display. At the same time, it shows indoor and outdoor readings for temperature and humidity, saving you time since you won’t have to switch settings to check on one or the other. What we weren’t big fans of was the absurdly small size of the device, though. Because of its compact size, the display is also tiny, making it difficult to see the numbers from afar. If there is a light hitting the display, it gets even worse since a glare effect is created.
Just like our top pick, it supports 3 connectable extensions. So, if you want to check the ambiance in multiple locations simultaneously, this nifty little device allows it. Seeing that the sampling rate is only 10 seconds, you are updated with the latest relative humidity and temperature stats instead of being shown old indications. And, to end on the high note that this product deserves, we mention that it can be set up as a wall-mounted or tabletop unit. So pick the setup you prefer best.
Since the only downside to the ITH-20R is that the display is a bit too small, it’s fair to say that this product has no deal-breaking flaw. It’s as accurate as they come and withstands high and low temperatures. It’s easy to install and can be set up as a tabletop or wall-mounted unit. Additionally, it’s a flexible option since it can connect to 3 extensions tops for monitoring multiple locations simultaneously.
Taylor 1730
The memory feature recalls the lowest and highest readings, allowing you to keep records of extreme temperatures. The degrees share the screen with a clock, so you can conveniently place the device on your nightstand and keep tabs on time without using multiple devices.
It’s a reasonably priced device for what it can do. Most of the time, the readings are accurate, but they often show errors, as some customers complain. The clock is an excellent addition as it helps you keep tabs on time without needing another device.
AMIR Brifit WA10
The 2-way installation implies that you can either wall-mount it or place it on the table. Unlike other models, you can expect the battery life to span as much as 24 months. Moreover, it comes with a 45-day refund if you are unhappy with how it works and a 1-year service for potential flaws over time.
A well-designed device that can successfully monitor temp and moistness inside and outside so you can get a clear picture of the weather. The two components communicate at a considerable distance, and you will get real-time readings, but a little slower than similar models that transmit the data more often. It is excellent for mounting on a vehicle or a vacation cabin as the battery lasts very long.
Extech 401014 Big Digit
When it comes to the outside temperature that it handles and provides readings for, it ranges from -58 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, you can count on this calibrated thermometer to provide accurate readings regardless of how cold or hot it gets. And yes, with +/- 1 degree Celsius or +/- 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit accuracy, this model is far from inaccurate.
Thanks to the internal memory storage it features, it can hold records of minimum and maximum readings over time. This allows you to compare temperatures in different years for the same period. As with all tested products, it lets you switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit readings. Pick the measure that you are accustomed to. The LCD display is large and shows 1-inch large digits to make it easy for you to read from afar what the thermometer indicates. Moreover, it’s a dual display, which means that indoor and outside temperatures are shown simultaneously.
An accurate and straightforward wired thermometer that you can count on to provide temperature readings no matter how bad the weather gets outside, the Extech is definitely worth buying. It won’t offer the hygrometer function, but it keeps min/max recordings long and is easy to set up. Furthermore, there are two mounting options that you can pick from, namely freestanding and wall-mounted.
Baldr Wireless
The data updates every 10 seconds, so you will get instant readings on current weather. Also, it has a memory setting that shows the minimum and maximum levels in the last 24 hours, along with trend arrows for an extended forecast. The interior component can be connected to three external sensors if you want to expand the monitoring outside or inside the house. Just make sure you don’t exceed the 100 feet range. Both units work on batteries, and there is an indicator on the screen telling you when it’s time to replace any of the two components.
It is a nice-looking device that is reasonably priced for all it offers. It’s an accurate heat meter that will provide almost instant readings due to the short communication time between the two components. It also shows extreme records and helps you predict the weather by looking at the trend arrows.
You have to consider your climate and ensure that the thermometer will handle the types of temperatures you’re generally dealing with. This is why the temperature range is the quintessential aspect to look into. So, if you know that winters typically come with temperatures down to 23 degrees Fahrenheit or -5 degrees Celsius, check to see the supported temperature range of the device and make sure it can provide readings for this sort of weather.
The smaller the increment range, the better since the device will more accurately display temperature readings. You will know to the last digit exactly how the temperature fares, this high precision helping you make appropriate decisions in what concerns your weather-related activities outdoors or how you should adjust the heating or AC indoors.
This is undoubtedly the most crucial aspect of the thermometer’s performance. After all, if the instrument was unreliable, you couldn’t count on the readings it provided. If you have a device that shows both temperature and humidity, you obviously have to check and see how it fares in terms of accuracy when displaying both stats.
Look for the transmission range specified on the product’s sheet to be as high as possible. It refers to the distance that can be kept between the transmitter and receiver while still transmitting information to one another. However, you must beware that the stat indicated on spec sheets refers to the range if there are no solid objects or wireless signals between the two. The transmission range will be shorter if these obstacles exist on their path.
While not a mandatory feature, it is preferable since it provides the extra perk of monitoring an additional stat, namely humidity. Models that offer readings for both temperature and humidity are more complex and show you info on all aspects related to living conditions that matter, which is why they tend to be a bit more expensive. If you already have a hygrometer or don’t want to throw a few extra bucks for this feature, you can go without it.
If the device can support simultaneous use with multiple sensors, you can check the temperature in more locations. Evidently, the higher the number is, the better since you won’t be limited to monitoring a single site but rather multiple ones simultaneously.
The last thing you want is to squint your eyes to see the numbers displayed on the screen or have to go all the way next to the thermometer to be able to read them. This is why display and digit size matter as much as all other design and performance features. Don’t neglect this aspect, or you will have difficulty figuring out the stats shown by the device.
Most of the models mentioned in this review are more than just a thermometer. As we like to provide you with more for your money, you can use the above models to measure dampness and comfort levels. In addition, each unit has a sleek and compact design, so you can place them anywhere you wish in your home. We hope to help you find the one you have been looking for, so don’t miss our final chart.
