PRELIMINARY SPRITE LOG
The following is a  preliminary listing of the times of sprites imaged at
the Yucca Ridge Field Station. These are based on a first pass visual
inspection of the video tapes. There may be some additional sprites not
listed . All times are UTC. Times indicated the start time of the first
video field in which the event is visible.

SUMMARY:    The cap unexpectedly broke in Morgan County and a moderate cell
with mostly negative  CGs continued past dark. STEPS tracked this storm, as
well as an MCS which moved in from the southwest before dark. The real
surprise was the frontal boundary in NE becoming active after dark. It had
a very high percent (>50%) of positives for many hours. A cold front swept
through YRFS dropping RH and clearing the smoke out somewhat, allowing
viewing after dark. The squall line made a number  of sprites and a rapid
sequence of elves.

Much smoke in area from fires burning in Colorado, New Mexico and Canada.
Visibility was restricted due to thin smoke. But very complex airmass and
dryline structure may have resulted in regions of "clean" and "smoky" air
affecting nearby storms differently. Reason to suspect the MCC was smoked
contaminated. No moon.
