SUMMARY: Linear MCS South of LMA Makes Sprites
TLE PREDICTION: 0.36 (0.9x0.4)
RESULTS: 16, debris clouds block view but some distant sprites seen
LESSONS: Sprites started after character of cloud top changed
PERSONNEL: Nelson, Fossum, Nordem, Gerken
STEPS STATUS: STEPS over.
YRFS OPERATION LOGS: Upslope flow caused widespread storms along Front Range which blocked viewing until long after. Full moon also a problem. Monitored to southeast were large MCS evolved from a squall-line like systems in southeast CO and Kansas. Many sprites blocked by clouds but some seen over top of fog bank. Sprites moved around so getting telescope fix was tough.
