SUMMARY: Sprites from MCS in NE and SD
TLE PREDICTION: 0.30 [0.5 x 0.60]
RESULTS: 40+ sprites from disorganized MCS
LESSONS: GEN III works very well on sprites
PERSONNEL: Lyons, Nelson, Fossum, Nordem, Maria,
STEPS STATUS: STEPS operates
YRFS OPERATION LOGS: Monitored NE and SD storms as soon as dark falls. Frequent, bright, carrot-like and dancing sprites. Uses GEN III and 500 mm tele lens (red)and long blue camera. Sampled VLF, but storms too far to use photodiode, but could easily sub-horizon cloud flashes in GEN III system,, perhaps as far out as 400 km. Stanford telescope captured some events.
STEPS OPERATIONS: STEPS investigates multicellular storm in southeast part of domain, with some +CGs cells.
